33 Blue Knights Named to G-MAC Academic All-Conference Team

On Monday afternoon, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its inaugural Academic All-Conference Team. The team features 189 student-athletes from five of the conference member institutions, covering 12 championship sponsored sports from the 2012-13 season.

Urbana University was represented on the Academic All-Conference Team by 33 student-athletes from its G-MAC affiliated sports in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men and women's golf, baseball and softball. Read More

Women's Golf Scrambles into Runner-up Finish at G-MAC Championships

The Urbana University women’s golf team overcame a three-shot deficit on Day 1 of the G-MAC Championships to finish in second place in the team’s first conference tournament since transitioning to NCAA Division II. On Monday, the Blue Knights trailed Ursuline College 355 to 352, but a team score of 346 on Tuesday was more than enough to overtake the Arrows, who shot a 358 on Tuesday, for the conference’s runner-up position.

The Blue Knights were led by freshman Courtney Tierney. Tierney followed Monday’s 89 with an 83 on Tuesday to lead her squad for the first time this spring. The collegiate rookie turned in the team’s lowest tournament score twice in the fall. She finished alone in fourth place overall to earn All-Conference honors in her first season. Read More

Women's Golf Slips to 7th of 12 at The Bump

The Urbana University women's golf team was unable to take advantage of better playing conditions on Sunday at Ohio Wesleyan University's Laura Bump Invitational. The Blue Knights carded a team score of 367, thirteen strokes off their Day 1 pace to slip from 6th to 7th overall in the field of 12 squads. It's the second tournament in a row Urbana has finished 7th in a field of 12. Baldwin Wallace took the team title with a 2-day total of 654 (+78).

Kasey Caudill went low on Day 1 to pace the Blue Knights. The sophomore shot a career-low 82 to grab a tie for 8th place overall in a field of nearly 75. Read More

Phillips Turns in 2nd Best Tournament Score in School History

The Urbana University women's golf team finished 7th in a field of 12 teams at the Capital Purple & White Invitational over the weekend. The Blue Knights fell a single stroke shy of 6th place Ohio Wesleyan University. Allegheny College took the team title with a 2-day team score of 650. Allegheny's Liz Blyth won medalist honors with rounds of 74-75.

Urbana's Lindsey Phillips finished in a tie for 4th in the field of 69 golfers, but she missed out on All-Tournament honors by a tiebreaker decided by individual handicaps. Phillips shot 83-81 to turn in her lowest tournament score of her sophomore season. Her 81 on Sunday is the fifth lowest individual round in program history, and her 2-day total of 164 has only been topped by one other golfer at UU. Read More

Golfers Open Spring at #22 AASU

The No. 22-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University women's golf team welcomed some of the top teams in the country to the Armstrong Pirate Women's Golf Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Georgia.

The field featured nationally-ranked Central Oklahoma (No. 12) and Flagler (No. 20), as well as Armstrong, who currently sports its highest national ranking in the eight-year history of the Pirate women's golf program. The Pirates may soon climb the national rankings after riding their home course advantage to a win in a star-studded field this week.
The Blue Knight women's golf team opened their spring season with a 13th place showing at the Invite. Urbana followed Monday's team score of 384 with a 387 on Day 2. This is the third year of the Invitational in its current format and the first year that the host Pirates have won the tournament. Junior Amanda Rockhold led her squad for the first time in her Blue Knight career. Read More
