CU Stings UU, Takes Control of G-MAC
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (October 30, 2012) - On Tuesday night at home, the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets captured a key G-MAC matchup with Urbana University. The Yellow Jackets swept the Blue Knights 25-11, 25-22, 25-16 to fend off their closest competitor in the conference standings. The loss is the second of the season in conference play for the 4-2 Blue Knights. Both defeats came at the hands of the Yellow Jackets, who improve to 26-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play. Cedarville can clinch the regular season championship and right to host the G-MAC tournament next week with a victory against winless Central State on Friday night.
Playing well in defeat for the Blue Knights was freshman Maci Jones. Jones had 6 kills in 15 attempts, hitting .333. Kelsey Volkmer also tallied 6 kills in addition to 10 digs. Mary Hendricks had 2 kills, 16 assists and 8 digs, and Kaci Eurez chipped in 8 digs.
Urbana still has a couple key G-MAC matchups remaining on its schedule. If the Blue Knights are going to hold onto the #2 seed, they'll need to close out the regular season with strong performances at Ursuline College on Friday night and at Trevecca Nazarene next Friday.
