Volleyball Falls Twice at #21 WJU's Tri-Match
WHEELING, West Virginia (September 15, 2012) - Urbana University's road losing streak continued on Saturday afternoon as the Blue Knights dropped a pair of matches against tough opponents. In the 4:00 p.m. match, Urbana fell on a neutral floor to Lock Haven University 25-22, 25-17, 25-22. After that loss, Urbana fell in straight sets to their nationally ranked hosts from Wheeling Jesuit University. The losses were Urbana's 17th and 18th straight away from the Grimes Center.
In the tight defeat against Lock Haven, Urbana was led by hitters Katlin Kremer and Megan Verhoff. Both finished with 8 kills. Kremer also added 4 block assists. Amy Hickman led the defense with 20 digs, and Mary Hendricks dished 16 assists. Karla Vogel led UU with 3 aces.
The 21st ranked Cardinals from WJU knocked off Urbana 25-13, 25-13, 25-19. Kelsey Volkmer led the Urbana attack with 7 kills. Hendricks had 11 assists and 2 aces. Kaci Eurez also had 2 aces, and Hickman tallied 11 digs.
