Volleyball Finishes 0-2 at Findlay on Friday
FINDLAY, Ohio (September 7, 2012) - Fridays have been unkind to the Urbana University volleyball team in 2012. For the second straight Friday, the Blue Knights dropped a pair of matches on the road in a weekend invitational at the University of Findlay. First, Wayne State University stopped Urbana in 3 sets, 25-11, 25-18, 25-15, then the hosts from Findlay swept UU 25-14, 25-22, 25-19.
Sophomore hitter Kelsey Volkmer led UU in kills in both losses. Volkmer terminated a total of 17 balls in the two matches. Freshman Megan Verhoff was right behind Volkmer with 11 kills. Senior setter Karla Vogel tallied 14 assists in the morning match, and 9 more assists against Findlay. Vogel also led the team in digs (9) against Wayne State. Senior Amy Hickman led the team in digs against Findlay with 11. Freshman Kaci Eurez chipped in 2 aces against Findlay and a total of 15 digs.
On Saturday, Urbana (1-6) plays two more matches at the Findlay Fall Invitational. At noon, the Blue Knights battle nationally ranked Hillsdale College, and at 5:00 p.m., Urbana takes on the University of California (PA). [Box Score vs. Wayne State][Box Score vs. Findlay]
