Haught Hires Carder to Assist UU Volleyball

URBANA, Ohio (June 25, 2012) - This week, first-year Blue Knight Volleyball Head Coach Troy Haught hired his first assistant in preparation for the 2012 season.  Haught and Urbana University welcome Liz Carder to the staff.

Carder comes to Urbana from nearby Triad High School, where she spent each of the past 6 seasons with the Cardinals.  Carder began as an assistant and Head JV Coach at Triad in 2006.  She was promoted to Head Coach in 2008.  She served in that capacity for each of the past 4 seasons.  Prior to her stint at Triad, Carder served as an assistant for a season at Ida S. Baker High School in Cape Coral, Florida.

Carder also has experience coaching at the club level in the region.  She is currently a coach for the Champaign County Volleyball Club in Springfield.  She also coached the North Columbus Volleyball Club prior to arriving at Triad.

Upon her hiring, Coach Haught had this to say about Coach Carder, "She has a lot of experience as a volleyball coach and a lot of knowledge to bring to our program.  After meeting Liz, I felt she would be a great fit for the program.  Our philosophies about volleyball are very similar, and she has a great passion for the game. Her excitement about coaching and volleyball could be seen from the start of our discussion.  I am very excited to have Liz on my staff, and I think she will help me take the program in the direction I am looking to go!"

Urbana opens the 2012 season with Haught and Carder on the bench Labor Day weekend in the Fairmont State University Invitational.  The first Blue Knight home match is Tuesday, September 4th at 7 PM against West Virginia State University.
