Urbana Earns Another Scoreless Draw

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (October 16, 2012) - For the second time in less than a week, the Urbana University women's soccer team ended a contest in a scoreless draw.  G-MAC foes Urbana and Cedarville held each other scoreless for 110 minutes on Tuesday night, setting up another likely meeting in 2 weeks at the G-MAC Conference Tournament.

Urbana stays at .500 with the tie, moving to 6-6-2 and 0-1-1 in the G-MAC.  Cedarville moves to 4-8-2 overall, and they wrap up their G-MAC regular season schedule with a 1-1-1 mark.  Urbana's regular season finale at Ursuline College in 12 days will determine the remaining seeds for the conference tournament which will be hosted by the already-determined #1 seed, undefeated Trevecca Nazarene University.

Cedarville outshot Urbana on Tuesday night 21-10, but the Blue Knights still had an opportunity to win it at the second overtime buzzer.  Senior Mikaela Tolbert had a decent look and slid into the ball and a Yellow Jacket defender, but the blast sailed just right of the goal as the final horn sounded.  UU keeper Meghan Taucher picked up her 10th career solo shutout in goal.  Five of those shutouts were earned the hard way, in a scoreless 110-minute draw.  Her 9 saves give her 79 on the season, which currently leads the G-MAC.

On Homecoming Friday, Urbana hosts Ohio Midwestern College for Senior Day.  It is the final home game for seniors Abby Pearson, Mikaela Tolbert, Brooke Smith, Roniqua Scott, Samantha Trick and Meghan Taucher.  Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.  [Box Score]
