Blue Knights Bounce Back at Seton Hill
GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (September 27, 2012) - On a rainy, miserable afternoon at Seton Hill University, the Urbana University women's soccer team got back on track with a 2-1 win over the Griffins.
After a scoreless first half, the Blue Knights got on the board first on freshman Hannah Rembach's first career goal. The go-ahead goal came just 2:20 into the second half. Fellow freshman Alyx Brown tallied her second assist of the season on Rembach's goal.
Urbana tacked on an important insurance goal on a corner kick in the 69th minute. Junior Brittany Mazzu netted her second game-winner in less than a week on a header in front of the Griffins' goal. Reigning G-MAC Player of the Week Abby Pearson provided the assist. Since entering the all-time Top 10 in assists at Urbana, Pearson has recorded an assist in four straight games.
The Griffins cut the lead in half with a Madison Gourley goal in the 76th minute, but senior keeper Meghan Taucher closed the door after that. Taucher tallied four saves in her fourth win in goal.
The victory ends Urbana's toughest stretch of the season on a high note. After seven straight road games and an 0-4 start, the Blue Knights now sit at 4-5 with four of their next six contests at home. Seton Hill drops to 5-5 with the loss. Next, Urbana hosts future conference foe West Liberty University on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. [Box Score]
