Women's Soccer Introduces 17 Newcomers

URBANA, Ohio (July 11, 2012) - This week, Urbana University Head Women's Soccer Coach Lauren Lewicki unveiled her complete 2012 roster, complete with 17 new freshmen recruits.  The newcomers join a strong core of 11 returners that includes 6 experienced seniors (Meghan Taucher, Roniqua Scott, Samantha Trick, Mikaela Tolbert, Abby Pearson and Brooke Smith) and 4 juniors (Brittany Mazzu, Hanna Abdalla, Adriana Sayers and Katie Felty).

The 2011 campaign was a tale of two teams.  At home, the squad impressed, posting a 5-2-1 mark that included wins over GLIAC opponents Lake Erie and Ashland.  On the road, the Blue Knights finished the year winless at 0-10-0.  Lewicki's newcomers hope to help the squad end that streak early in 2012.

Below, each of Urbana's 17 newcomers are listed alphabetically by last name, along with comments from Coach Lewicki.  Click on each student-athlete's name to read more about the recruits.  Urbana opens the 2012 season with a pair of Labor Day Weekend matches.  First, the Blue Knights host the University of Southern Indiana at Wittenberg University on Saturday, September 1st.  (The game had to be moved to Wittenberg due to a UU home football game that day.)  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.  Then, on Sunday, September 2nd, the Blue Knights host Davis & Elkins College on the campus of UU at 1:00 p.m.
