Wason Wins 2nd G-MAC Weekly Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (October 29, 2012) - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week: Tyler Wason from Urbana University guided his team to an undefeated G-MAC regular-season, the regular-season title, and the top seed in the conference championship tournament.

Wason guided the Blue Knights to a 2-1 week, falling only to #24 Saginaw Valley State. With the G-MAC regular-season title on the line against Cedarville, Wason scored the game-winner on a PK in the 52nd minute to clinch the title, an undefeated regular season conference record, and the #1 seed for Urbana heading into the G-MAC Championship Tournament.

It was his fourth game-winner of the season, tying his own school record for most game-winning goals in a single season. It was also his eighth career game-winner, which is also a UU school record. Wason also scored twice in the first 12 minutes of a 3-1 win over in-region rival Ashland University on Friday night and leads the team and G-MAC in goals (11) and points (26).  The weekly award is Wason's second of the season, joining fellow Blue Knights Kelsey Volkmer, Abby Pearson, and Perry Jenkins as the only other UU student-athletes with multiple conference players of the week awards this school year.
