#24 SVSU Steals UU's Home Finale
URBANA, Ohio (October 28, 2012) - Frigid temperatures and gusty winds weren't the only thing to ruin the Blue Knight men's soccer teams' home finale on Sunday afternoon. The 24th ranked Cardinals from Saginaw Valley State University scored three quick goals with the 30 mph winds at their backs and held on for a 3-0 win.
Less than a minute into the game, on the first shot of the afternoon, the Cardinals capitalized. The visitors got the ball into Urbana's box, where a Blue Knight defender poked the ball away. Unfortunately for Urbana, the loose ball rolled to a wide open Robert Short who blasted the ball into the back of the net. Short added another goal on a corner kick less than 20 minutes later, and the lead ballooned to 3-0 after just 33 minutes of play.
Urbana is off until next Saturday's G-MAC Championship game. Urbana earned the right to advance to the final after finishing atop the regular season standings at 3-0-0. The G-MAC Championship will be hosted by second-seeded Cedarville University at 3:00 p.m. [Box Score]
