Brand Joins Blue Knight Men's Soccer

URBANA, Ohio (July 23, 2012) - In what is likely to be the last signing before the 2012 season opens for the Urbana University men's soccer team, Head Coach Nick Roberts announced the signing of 6’6" forward Jared Brand from Southend on Sea in England.

Brand is a high school graduate of Southend High School where he was voted the Most Outstanding Athlete in 2012.  He has captured numerous awards while playing for Southend, and in recent years, he has represented a number of clubs in England, notably the Wakering Rovers, the Kingdown Rangers and Southend Manor.

“Jared is a technically sound player for a player of his height," explains Roberts.  "This means he can play in a variety of positions. We intend to use him at center forward, and I personally believe his is an excellent recruit for our team. We are extremely happy he has decided to join us here at Urbana University.”

Jared is the son of Paul and Nikki Brand and intends to pursue a degree in Business at Urbana.  Brand is the fifth international recruit to join the Blue Knights' 2012 recruiting class, including the third from Roberts' native England.
