Walters Highlights Lacrosse's All-MEC SelectionsApr. 30th, 2015
The Mountain East Conference today announced its inaugural women's lacrosse all-conference teams and award winners. Wheeling Jesuit's Jessie Tufnel is the league's Offensive Player of the Year, Shepherd's Alyx Albano is the Defensive Player of the Year, Kimberly Lubic is the Freshman of the Year, and UVa-Wise's Megan Dennehy is the Coach of the Year.
Urbana landed four players on the all-conference squads, highlighted by senior Hannah Walters' First Team All-MEC nod. Walters started all 54 games of her Blue Knight career in the midfield, a program record. This spring, she finished second on the squad in goals (25), draw controls (33) and shots (60). She was third in assists (8). The midfielder also led the Blue Knights in points (33) and ends her career as the all-time program leader in assists (22), draw controls (143) and free position goals (27). Read More
Lacrosse Drops Regular Season Finale at ShepherdApr. 19th, 2015
The Urbana University women's lacrosse team fell 21-3 at MEC frontrunner Shepherd University on Sunday afternoon. The loss came in Urbana's regular season finale. Next, the Blue Knights will wait to see if they come out on top of a three-team tiebreaker for the fourth and final position in the MEC post-season tournament.
After 16 minutes of play, the Blue Knights were going toe-to-toe with the Rams. Jessica McHenry's goal pulled the Blue Knights within one at 4-3 before the Rams ended the half on a 7-0 run. Shepherd didn't allow another goal for the rest of the afternoon, outscoring Urbana 10-0 over the final 30-minute half. Read More
Cavs Comeback to Defeat UU 11-10Apr. 15th, 2015
The Walsh University women's lacrosse team erased an early 5-0 deficit and scored the last 3 goals of the game on their way to an 11-10 win at Urbana University on Wednesday afternoon. The loss is Urbana's fourth by a single goal this season.
Urbana freshman Katie Barnhart scored with 8:42 on the clock in the first half to put her squad ahead 5-0, but the Cavaliers came storming back, scoring 5 goals of their own in the final 8 minutes of the first half to send the game into halftime tied 5-5. The final goal of the half came as time expired.
The Blue Knights bounced back in the second half, taking a 10-8 lead with under 8 minutes to play on senior Hannah Walters' team-leading 5th goal of the game. Like they did in the first half, Walsh rallied in the final minutes. The visitors two quick goals in a span of 43 seconds to re-tie the game at 10-10. Walsh won possession with a few minutes left and stalled for a late quality shot. Sarah McCormick scored the game-winner with 50 seconds remaining. Lacrosse Edged 12-11 in OT at UrsulineApr. 14th, 2015
For the fourth time this season, the Urbana University women’s lacrosse team was locked in a tight battle that came down to the final goal, and for the third time in those contests, the Blue Knights came up a goal short. On the road at Ursuline College on Tuesday evening, Urbana fell 12-11 in overtime.
In overtime, Ursuline scored in the first minute of the extra frame to take an 11-10 lead. UU freshman Katie Barnhart answered with her career-high sixth goal of the game to re-tie the game at 11-11. The shorthanded goal came shortly after an Urbana yellow card. Still playing a man-down after the shorthanded goal, Urbana was unable to gain control after the ensuing draw control. The Arrows capitalized on Cydney Bartlett’s game-winner with 65 seconds remaining. Urbana won the final draw control but a pair of turnovers in the final 46 seconds doomed Urbana. Read More
Waqa Wins MEC Defensive Player of the WeekApr. 14th, 2015
Shepherd's Erin Phelan has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Urbana's Paige Waqa is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Waqa, a junior from Bethesda, Md., recorded 32 saves in three games last week, including 13 in a thrilling 10-9 win over UVa-Wise. She also held Calvin College without a goal in the final 30 minutes for the Blue Knights in a narrow loss. Waqa is ranked fourth in the country in saves per game this season with 11.89. Waqa is the first Blue Knight in program history to earn an MEC Player of the Week award. Read More
Lacrosse Drops Senior Day Decision to WJUApr. 12th, 2015
The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team dropped a Senior Day decision to the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit University. The Cardinals opened the game on a 10-1 run and pulled out a 17-8 victory at sunny UU Stadium.
The win improves the Cardinals’ Mountain East Conference mark to 2-1. Urbana slips to 1-3 in league play with just one MEC match remaining.
After falling behind 10-1, the Blue Knights rallied at the end of the first half. Spurred on by senior Hannah Walters, Urbana scored three straight goals in the final 73 seconds of the half to trim the deficit to 10-4 entering the break. Lacrosse Lands 1st Win, Clips Cavs 10-9 in OTApr. 10th, 2015
Three of the last four contests, the Urbana University women’s lacrosse team lost wire-to-wire battles by a goal or two. The Blue Knights snapped that run of bad luck by clipping the visiting Cavaliers from the University of Virginia-Wise 10-9 in overtime on a windy Friday evening.
The Blue Knights scored four of the first six goals to take an early 4-2 lead. The Cavaliers came roaring back with four of the last five goals of the half, including one with nine seconds left, to take a 6-5 advantage into the break. Blue Knight senior Hannah Walters notched two goals and her 22nd career assist in the first half, tying the all-time program record for career assists. Read More
2nd Half Shutout Not Enough for UU LacrosseApr. 7th, 2015
For the first time in program history, the Urbana University women’s lacrosse team shutout an opponent over an entire half. Down 9-3 at the half, the Blue Knights blanked the Calvin College Knights over the final 30 minutes of action on the road on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Urbana, the Blue Knight offense only mustered four goals in the second half, falling 9-7 in non-conference action.
Blue Knight goalkeeper Paige Waqa made 13 saves on the afternoon, compared to Calvin keeper Corry Remy’s five stops. Waqa was perfect in the second half, turning away all seven Calvin shots on goal over the final 30 minutes. Read More
Time Runs Out on UU in 11-10 LossApr. 2nd, 2015
For the second time in less than a week, the Urbana University women’s lacrosse team had possession down a goal with time running out, and for the second time, the Blue Knights came up short. On a rainy evening at home against the NAIA’s #5 team in the country, Siena Heights University, Urbana fell to 0-7 on the year after Thursday’s heartbreaking 11-10 decision.
Urbana’s defense was superb in the first half. Goalkeeper Paige Waqa (pictured) ended the first period with a total of 9 saves on her way to 18 for the game. That is the sixth most in a single game in UU’s lacrosse history. Ferguson only stopped a total of 8 shots for SHU. Offensively, Urbana was led by its freshman duo of Barnhart and Henderson. Henderson had 4 goals and three assists. Barnhart finished with 4 goals and one assist. Walters tallied 3 assists, all in the first half. Lacrosse 0-2 in MEC Play after Loss at WVWCMar. 29th, 2015
The Urbana University women's lacrosse team fell a goal short in the program's inaugural Mountain East Conference contest on Friday night, but the Bobcats from West Virginia Wesleyan College didn't let the Blue Knights keep it close on Sunday afternoon in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Wesleyan delivered Urbana its second MEC loss of the weekend with a 22-5 decision.
Like they did on Friday, Urbana allowed 6 goals before the Blue Knights had an answer. At Notre Dame, Urbana rallied all the way back before falling 13-12. Hannah Walters and Taylor Andersen (pictured) began the Blue Knight comeback on Sunday with back-to-back goals. Over a 23-minute span that spread over both halves, Urbana equalled their opponents 5-5. Still down 6 with 27 minutes to play, Urbana stopped scoring and the Bobcats ran away with the win by ending the game on an 11-0 run. Read More

Urbana University and Notre Dame College opened yet another chapter in their Mountain East Conference rivalry on Friday night. Playing as MEC foes in women’s lacrosse for the first time, the in-state opponents battled down to the wire before the Falcons pulled off a 13-12 thriller on their snowy home field.
With game time temperatures in the 20’s and snow flurries in the air, the home Falcons acclimated to the conditions quicker and raced out to a 6-0 lead. Urbana has fallen behind 6-0 in all five of their contests this spring, but the Blue Knights refused to fold against the Falcons. The Dragons from Tiffin University stormed Urbana University’s castle on Tuesday night and defeated the Blue Knights 20-1. Urbana has never defeated their former conference foe, who improved to 2-6 on the season. Urbana remains winless at 0-4.
The Dragons scored the game’s first 7 goals on a chilly, but sunny Tuesday evening at UU Stadium. Blue Knight freshman Katie Barnhart broke the Dragons’ streak of goals, but the visitor’s lead reached 12-1 by halftime. Storm Stymies UU LacrosseMar. 21st, 2015
The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team fell to 0-3 on the young season Saturday afternoon after falling 14-3 at Lake Erie College.
Just 16 hours after suffering a similar defeat in the home opener, Urbana fell behind 11-0 at the half to the Storm. The Blue Knights equaled Lake Erie’s score in the second half 3-3, but it was too little, too late to make a comeback.
Senior Hannah Walters scored twice to once again lead the Urbana offense. Freshman Taylor Henderson notched the third goal of the game for the Blue Knights. Paige Waqa stopped 11 shots in goal. Read More

Nationally ranked Grand Valley State University ran away with a 17-3 decision at Urbana University’s 2015 home opener on Friday night. The Lakers scored the game’s first 11 goals and never looked back.
Hannah Walters netted Urbana’s first goal, stopping the Lakers’ 11-0 run in the first half. Freshman Katie Barnhart also scored a goal. Walters later added a second goal. Defensively, the Blue Knights were led by Emily Brumley’s (pictured) 3 caused turnovers and 3 ground balls. Urbana only had one more turnover than the Lakers. The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team ran into an opponent with four games under their belts on Tuesday night, falling 20-4 to the Oilers from the University of Findlay. The Oilers won by a similar score, 21-4, in Urbana last spring.
Urbana tried to shake off the rust early, but the much more experienced Oilers had their number. The home team scored 8 unanswered goals to open the game. Blue Knight Chanelle Bondurant helped Urbana end the drought with a goal at the 8:49 mark of the first half. Lacrosse Picked 6th in Preseason MEC PollFeb. 10th, 2015
The Shepherd Rams have been tabbed by the coaches in the Mountain East Conference to win the league's inaugural women's lacrosse championship.
Wheeling Jesuit was tabbed to finish second with 19 points, finishing just ahead of Notre Dame with 18 points. The Falcons received the lone first-place vote. UVa-Wise was predicted to finish third with 13 points, followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (10) and Urbana (5). The MEC began conducting a conference championship for women's lacrosse after UVa-Wise became the sixth team in the league to sponsor the sport this spring. The University of Charleston recently added women's lacrosse and will begin competing in the MEC in 2016. Read More
UU Lacrosse to Host 2 Preseason Jump Start ClinicsJan. 20th, 2015
Urbana University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Mike Hilton announced plans to host a pair of 2015 Season "Jump Start" Clinics for area girls' lacrosse players. The clinic is designed for beginner and advanced players.
The first clinic is for newer players, grade 6 up to high school JV players. The first clinic is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 31st. An advanced player clinic for grades 8 to 12 will be held at Urbana University on Saturday, February 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The advanced clinic also includes Brett Yenger, Head Lacrosse Coach at Wilmington College, working with goalies in the morning session. The Urbana University women's lacrosse team dropped its season finale and Senior Day contest 13-8 to the Ursuline Arrows.
Junior Hannah Walters led Urbana's offense with four goals, including three after the half to briefly cut Ursuline's lead to 11-8 with 16:46 left to play. The Arrows slowed the pace of the game by holding the ball before scoring the game's final two goals to arrive at the 5-goal margin of victory.
Taylor Anderson, Maria Garcia, and Tabitha Stein also contributed to Urbana's total with a combined four goals. Andersen scored twice in the first half. Garcia led UU with 4 ground balls. The GLIAC's top ranked squad handed Urbana University its first shutout loss in the program's 4-year history on Friday night. Grand Valley State University blanked the Blue Knights 18-0 to officially elminate Urbana from the GLIAC post-season tournament.
The Lakers led 11-0 at the half before tacking on 7 more goals over the final 30 minutes. Urbana managed just 1 shot on goal on the night against the stout Laker defense. Hannah Walters had the lone shot. Paige Waqa recorded 9 saves in goal for the visitors. The loss was Urbana's 7th straight. The Blue Knights put the finishing touches on the 2014 season on Sunday at home. Urbana welcomes Ursuline College to UU Stadium for the finale. A battered and undermanned Urbana University women’s lacrosse team nearly pulled off a big home win on Wednesday afternoon. The Blue Knights led early and had the visiting Bobcats on the ropes at the half. West Virginia Wesleyan College, however, opened the second half with 6 straight goals to pull off the 12-4 victory at a sunny UU Stadium.

Like they have a few times this season, the Blue Knight women's lacrosse team charged out of the gates on Thursday night. Urbana grabbed a quick 2-1 lead over GLIAC foe Walsh University thanks to a pair of early goals from junior Hannah Walters. The Walsh Cavaliers regrouped, though, and controlled undermanned Urbana the rest of the way. The Cavs collected their sixth win of the season by a score of 16-3. Urbana slipped to 1-7 on the year.

The University of Findlay women’s lacrosse team picked up a big conference road win on Sunday afternoon at Urbana University. The Oilers controlled the pace from the onset, earning a 21-4 win over the Blue Knights.

The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team was unable to follow Friday night’s first win with another victory on Tuesday night. Notre Dame College proved to be too much for the Blue Knights in South Euclid, downing Urbana 20-4.
Sophomore Chanelle Bondurant’s goal at the 20-minute mark made it 4-2 in favor of the Falcons early. The home team took control two minutes later, starting a 5-0 run that put the game out of reach. Bondurant also won 5 draw controls, caused a turnover and tallied two ground balls. Read More

The Urbana University women's lacrosse team landed its first win of the season on Friday night, knocking off conference opponent Alderson-Broaddus University 8-7. Urbana improves to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC.
Urbana used a total team effort to edge the Battlers. Five different Blue Knights combined to score the teams' 8 goals. Taylor Andersen (pictured) scored a goal and assisted on another. Hannah Walters, Tabitha Stein and Chanelle Bondurant each scored twice. Stein also assisted on one of Walters' two goals, and senior Ashley Gerken added a goal in the win. The Urbana University women's lacrosse team dropped its GLIAC opener to Wheeling Jesuit University by a score of 23-2 on Wednesday afternoon. The visiting Cardinals built a 14-0 first half lead and never looked back.
Urbana scored its first goal of the game with 9:10 remaining on the clock. Maria Garcia found Taylor Andersen open in front of the Cardinal goal, and Andersen's shot was true. The assist was the first in the career of Garcia. Andersen's goal was the 2nd of her season. Junior Hannah Walters added an unassisted goal, her team-leading 7th of the season, with 5 seconds left on the clock. Sophomore Paige Waqa (pictured) was busy in the Blue Knight goal. She faced 61 shots, saving 22 of them. Her 22 saves were 1 off her school record of 23 set last season. Read More
Snowstorm Cancels Lacrosse Game at HalftimeMar. 29th, 2014
A spring snowstorm caused the cancellation of Saturday's home lacrosse opener against Shepherd University. Blinding snow and ice and unsafe playing conditions forced the referees and coaches to call the game with Shepherd out in front 16-0 after one half of play. The game does not count because the minimum 48 minutes were not played before it was called. The game will not be made up. Urbana's next attempt at a home opener comes on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against GLIAC opponent Wheeling Jesuit University. Read More

The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team lost a late lead on the road on Wednesday night. Leading 8-7 with under 12 minutes remaining, Urbana allowed Transylvania University to end the game on a 3-1 run. Transylvania netted the go-ahead goal with 3:49 left on the clock, and the home team held on for the 10-9 victory.
Urbana led 6-5 at the half. The scoring tandem of Hannah Walters and Tabitha Stein (pictured) combined for 8 goals in the game. Stein’s four goals were a career-high. Her fourth goal tied the game at 9-9 with 7:44 remaining, but the Blue Knights couldn’t hold on. Read More

The Urbana University women’s lacrosse team faced a tough challenge in their 2014 opener. On the road at the NAIA’s second ranked Davenport University, the Blue Knights fell 17-6. The win was Davenport’s eighth straight to start their year, a new program record.
The Blue Knights posted the game’s first goal, a Hannah Walters’ score on an assist from Alanna Costigan 5:31 into the contest. Davenport answered with four consecutive goals in less than four minutes. Blue Knight Chanelle Bondurant broke the streak with a goal at the ten-minute mark. Lacrosse Team Lends Helping Hand to Canine Rescue GroupOct. 24th, 2013
The Urbana University lacrosse team recently lent a helping hand to a local organization that rescues Shih tzu dogs from all over the country. The Blue Knights helped run the organization's 5K Color Paws SASS Run for a Rescue a couple of weekends ago. Below the Blue Knights are pictured filling small pools for visiting dogs to use for drinking water, walking some of the dogs that were available for rescue, setting up exhibits, and running a booth that featured Head Coach Mike Hilton face-painting skills. All of the funds raised went to help the non-profit organization's efforts. Read More

Twin sisters and Urbana University student-athletes Hanna and Heather Abdalla did their best Johnny Appleseed impersonations recently at the Early Childhood Education Center in Springfield. The Milford Center, Ohio natives teamed up to teach the preschoolers all about the legendary John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, during the week of his birthday. Hanna, a senior defender and midfielder on the UU soccer team, is an Early Childhood Education major. Heather, a senior defender on the UU lacrosse team, is a Middle Childhood Education major. Hilton Hired to Lead Women's LacrosseSep. 19th, 2013
Urbana University Athletic Director Doug Young announced the hiring of new Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Mike Hilton this week. Hilton takes over the NCAA Division II program before its fourth season of intercollegiate competition kicks off in the spring of 2014.
“Coach Hilton has over 25 years of experience coaching lacrosse, dating back to when his son and daughter started playing. He fell in love with the sport when he played at Towson University and returned to lacrosse with his kids,” explained Young. “It was evident immediately that his lacrosse experience and knowledge energized the team during the interview process. Lacrosse Lands 5 on GLIAC Academic All-Conference TeamsJul. 3th, 2013
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2013 Spring All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Teams. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0.
The Urbana University lacrosse team landed a pair of players on the All-Academic Team and 3 more on the Academic Excellence Team. Senior midfielder Nora Boerger and junior defender Heather Abdalla were named Academic All-Conference, while juniors Ashley Gerken and Chiara Corsmeier joined freshman Shannon Meyer on the Academic All-Excellence Team for maintaining a cumulative GPA above 3.50. The NCAA provided education on career development and potential career opportunities for nearly 300 student-athletes from Divisions I, II and III at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, June 8-11 in Indianapolis. Urbana University student-athletes Chiara Corsmeier (pictured) and Heather Martin were 2 of the 300 student-athletes selected to participate in the forum. Corsmeier is a junior lacross player from Beavercreek, Ohio. Martin is a junior softball player from London, Ohio. The forum focused on assisting student-athletes with making a successful transition from competition to their future professions in intercollegiate athletics. Read More
Emily Boerger Earns All-Conference HonorsMay. 6th, 2013
Urbana University women’s lacrosse player Emily Boerger (Milford Center, OH/Fairbanks HS) earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors following a record-breaking senior season. Boerger was Urbana’s lone representative on the GLIAC All-Conference teams. The Blue Knights (3-11) finished seventh in the new nine-team women’s lacrosse league.
Boerger set single season school records for points (52), goals (50), goals per game (3.85), shots per game (7.85) and shot percentage (.490). In a win at Walsh University earlier this season, Boerger tied single game school records for goals (8) and points (9). She finished 7th in the country in NCAA Division II in goals per game. The three-year starting attacker leaves Urbana as the all-time leader in points (121), goals (114), shots (276) and game-winning goals (3). Read More
Emily Boerger Notches Record 50th Goal of the Season in Senior Day LossApr. 28th, 2013
The GLIAC frontrunners from Grand Valley State University ruined a strong effort from the Blue Knight lacrosse team on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon. The visiting Lakers finished their conference slate undefeated, locking up the top seed in next week's GLIAC post-season tournament with a 22-10 victory.
The game was much closer than the final score indicated. Urbana won the early battle in both halves, but the deeper, fresher Lakers were able to pull away late. Despite the loss, Urbana ends its season on a high note. The played toe-to-toe with the best team in the conference, sending their three seniors out in fine fashion. Emily Boerger scored a game-high 7 goals on just 8 shots. Her big day allowed her to become the first Blue Knight in program history to score 50 goals in a single season. Lacrosse Loses Battle with FalconsApr. 26th, 2013
The Urbana University lacrosse team came out of the gates on fire on Friday night, but the Blue Knights couldn't keep up with the deeper Falcons from Notre Dame College. The score was 6-5 at the break, but constant substitutions from the visitors helped the Falcons stay fresh while Urbana was playing without a bench. NDC outscored Urbana 13-3 in the second half, locking down a spot in the post-season GLIAC tournament. Urbana was eliminated from the GLIAC tournament with the 19-8 loss.
The top highlight of the game came from the Blue Knights. On a pinpoint assist from Hannah Walters, a streaking Alyssa Ashcroft (pictured) caught the pass and fired a shot in a blink of an eye, scoring in the top left corner of the net. Boerger Bags Record 8 Goals in Win at WalshApr. 21st, 2013
The Urbana University women's lacrosse team notched its third win of the season on Sunday afternoon, an 16-5 romp over the Cavaliers from Walsh University. The victory sets a new single-season high for the Blue Knights, who are in their third season of NCAA Division II competition. Walsh, a new D-II program, falls to 2-5 on the year.
Senior Emily Boerger tied an Urbana record with 8 goals in the victory. She also had an assist, matching Brittany Mazzu's mark of 9 points in a single game. Her 4 ground balls were also a team-high, and her 8 goals give her 103 in her career. She is the first Blue Knight to reach triple-digits in goals scored. Read More

The Blue Knight women's lacrosse team dropped their first home game of the season on Friday night, falling to the visiting Dragons from Tiffin University. Urbana outscored their opponents in the second half, but Tiffin's early scoring frenzy was enough to hold off the Blue Knights by a score of 17-10.
Urbana's Chanelle Bondurant scored her 10th goal of the season on a nifty assist from Ashley Gerken. Bondurant's goal helped the home team set the tone for the second period. Urbana outscored the Dragons 6-5 over the final 30 minutes, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 8-point deficit. Read More
Lacrosse's Late Comeback Falls Short at FindlayApr. 14th, 2013
The Blue Knight women's lacrosse team made a late charge on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't enough in Urbana's 22-14 defeat at the University of Findlay.
Urbana outscored the Oilers 10-8 in the second half, including a 4-0 Boerger twin scoring run late. Down 20-9 with a little over 11 minutes to go, sisters Nora (pictured) and Emily alternated goals over the next three minutes to pull the visitors within 20-12, but the teams only netted a pair of goals each over the final 7 minutes as the Oilers held on to victory. Coming off the biggest win in program history, the Blue Knight lacrosse team was knocked back down on the road on Friday night. Conference power Lake Erie College surged past Urbana 19-2 to improve to 8-3 and 2-1 in the GLIAC. Urbana slips to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

On a beautiful spring afternoon at Urbana University Stadium, the Blue Knight women's lacrosse team enjoyed the biggest win in the program's 3-year history. Urbana beat up the Battlers from Alderson-Broaddus College 17-2 in the team's home opener.
Urbana improves to 2-6 on the season and 1-1 in GLIAC play. The Battlers (0-8, 0-2 GLIAC) remain winless in their inaugural season of women's lacrosse.
Urbana seniors Emily (pictured) and Nora Boerger opened the game with a flurry of goals. The twins combined for 8 goals, 5 from Emily and 3 from Nora, in the first half as the home team grabbed a 12-1 lead at the break. Read More

For the second time this season, the Urbana University women's lacrosse team dropped a game on the road by a single goal. At Wheeling Jesuit University on Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Knights fell 9-8 on a Cardinal goal with 22 seconds remaining. The heartbreaking loss was eerily similar to another 9-8 loss suffered at Siena Heights University 3 weeks prior. The game-winning goal came with 1:22 left on the clock in that Blue Knight defeat.

The Blue Knight women's lacrosse team came from behind in the second half to bag their first victory of the season on Tuesday night. Urbana overcame a 4-3 halftime deficit on the road in the freezing cold to beat the Bobcats from West Virginia Wesleyan College by a final score of 8-5. Playing under the lights at Siena Heights University, the Blue Knight lacrosse team made a valiant comeback on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Urbana, the Saints erased the impressive comeback with a game-winning goal with about a minute remaining in SHU's 9-8 victory.
The Blue Knights found themselves trailing the Saints 8-3 with 22 minutes to play. Under frigid conditions, Urbana dug deep and mustered a huge comeback. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) lacrosse coaches selected Grand Valley State University to win the league title in the 2013 GLIAC Lacrosse Preseason Poll. This will be the first season that lacrosse will be played in the GLIAC. The league’s head coaches participated in the balloting, but were not allowed to vote for their team. The Urbana University women's lacrosse team showed great improvement in its second season of NCAA Division II competition, but the improved play wasn't enough against nearby rival Tiffin University on Friday night. After suffering a 26-2 loss to the Dragons last spring, the Blue Knights kept it closer but still fell 20-8 on the road in the season finale. Denison, meanwhile, improves to 10-3 with their sixth straight victory. Denison scored the game's first 20 goals before Urbana had an answer.
