33 Blue Knights Named to G-MAC Academic All-Conference Team
Jun. 18th, 2013On Monday afternoon, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced its inaugural Academic All-Conference Team. The team features 189 student-athletes from five of the conference member institutions, covering 12 championship sponsored sports from the 2012-13 season.
Urbana University was represented on the Academic All-Conference Team by 33 student-athletes from its G-MAC affiliated sports in men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men and women's golf, baseball and softball. Read More
Women's Golf Scrambles into Runner-up Finish at G-MAC Championships
Apr. 23th, 2013The Urbana University women’s golf team overcame a three-shot deficit on Day 1 of the G-MAC Championships to finish in second place in the team’s first conference tournament since transitioning to NCAA Division II. On Monday, the Blue Knights trailed Ursuline College 355 to 352, but a team score of 346 on Tuesday was more than enough to overtake the Arrows, who shot a 358 on Tuesday, for the conference’s runner-up position.
The Blue Knights were led by freshman Courtney Tierney. Tierney followed Monday’s 89 with an 83 on Tuesday to lead her squad for the first time this spring. The collegiate rookie turned in the team’s lowest tournament score twice in the fall. She finished alone in fourth place overall to earn All-Conference honors in her first season. Read More
Women's Golf Slips to 7th of 12 at The Bump
Apr. 14th, 2013The Urbana University women's golf team was unable to take advantage of better playing conditions on Sunday at Ohio Wesleyan University's Laura Bump Invitational. The Blue Knights carded a team score of 367, thirteen strokes off their Day 1 pace to slip from 6th to 7th overall in the field of 12 squads. It's the second tournament in a row Urbana has finished 7th in a field of 12. Baldwin Wallace took the team title with a 2-day total of 654 (+78).
Kasey Caudill went low on Day 1 to pace the Blue Knights. The sophomore shot a career-low 82 to grab a tie for 8th place overall in a field of nearly 75. Read More
Phillips Turns in 2nd Best Tournament Score in School History
Apr. 7th, 2013The Urbana University women's golf team finished 7th in a field of 12 teams at the Capital Purple & White Invitational over the weekend. The Blue Knights fell a single stroke shy of 6th place Ohio Wesleyan University. Allegheny College took the team title with a 2-day team score of 650. Allegheny's Liz Blyth won medalist honors with rounds of 74-75.
Urbana's Lindsey Phillips finished in a tie for 4th in the field of 69 golfers, but she missed out on All-Tournament honors by a tiebreaker decided by individual handicaps. Phillips shot 83-81 to turn in her lowest tournament score of her sophomore season. Her 81 on Sunday is the fifth lowest individual round in program history, and her 2-day total of 164 has only been topped by one other golfer at UU. Read More
Golfers Open Spring at #22 AASU
Mar. 5th, 2013The No. 22-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University women's golf team welcomed some of the top teams in the country to the Armstrong Pirate Women's Golf Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Georgia.
The field featured nationally-ranked Central Oklahoma (No. 12) and Flagler (No. 20), as well as Armstrong, who currently sports its highest national ranking in the eight-year history of the Pirate women's golf program. The Pirates may soon climb the national rankings after riding their home course advantage to a win in a star-studded field this week.
The Blue Knight women's golf team opened their spring season with a 13th place showing at the Invite. Urbana followed Monday's team score of 384 with a 387 on Day 2. This is the third year of the Invitational in its current format and the first year that the host Pirates have won the tournament. Women's Golf Finishes Fall Season on High Note
Oct. 14th, 2012The Urbana University women's golf team overcame less than ideal playing conditions on Sunday afternoon to put the finishing touches on a strong fall season. After a beautiful Saturday at Wittenberg University's Pat Clouse Invitational, the Blue Knights fought through 30 mph winds and intermittent rain showers on Sunday to post team scores of 359 and 362. Both scores landed in the program's top 10 team scores of all-time. The Blue Knights defeated Notre Dame College and Washington & Jefferson University to take 13th overall in the field of 15. Only one team in the field managed to improve on their Day 1 score because of the weather conditions. The Blue Knights very nearly pulled off this feat behind the performance of sophomore Kasey Caudill. Caudill cut 9 strokes off her Saturday total to pace Urbana with rounds of 93 and 84. Read More
Blue Knights Finish 2nd of 6 at IU-East
Oct. 12th, 2012On a crisp autumn afternoon at Harbor Links Golf Course in Liberty, Indiana, the Urbana University women's golf team churned out their best team result of the fall, finishing second of six teams at the Indiana University-East Waterfront Classic. Conference foe Ursuline College took home the team championship with a combined score of 354. The Blue Knights shot a collective 375 to take the runner-up position ahead of four other teams. Ursuline took home the top 3 individual spots, but Urbana golfers occupied 4th and 5th place in a field of 35. Freshman Courtney Tierney took home the top spot on the team for the first time in her career, edging sophomore teammate Lindsey Phillips by a single stroke. Read More
Phillips Leads Women's Golf at IWU
Oct. 1st, 2012For the second straight tournament, sophomore Lindsey Phillips led the Blue Knight women's golf team. Phillips posted the 7th best 2-round total in school history at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Shady Hills Golf Course in Marion, Indiana. As a team, Urbana slipped from 5th on Day 1 to 7th overall after a difficult Day 2. Read More
Women's Golf Opens Fall at Ursuline
Sep. 15th, 2012The Urbana University women's golf team opened its fall season on Friday at Ursuline College's Fall Invitational. The Blue Knights finished just 4 strokes behind their hosts in 6th place. Walsh University finished first in the field of 8 teams, carding a team score of 324, which was 6 strokes better than the runners-up from D-I Bowling Green State University. The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Lindsey Phillips and freshman Courtney Tierney, who both shot 89 and tied for 14th overall in a field of over 50 golfers. Read More

Jun. 25th, 2012After turning in one of the best freshman seasons that the Lady Blue Knight golf team has ever seen, Lindsey Phillips started off the summer in successful fashion. Phillips concluded the 2-day Springfield Women’s City Amateur hosted by Reid Memorial Golf Course on top of a field that included 30 of the area's finest female golfers. Read More
Blue Knights Take 3rd Place at OIC's
Apr. 17th, 2012The Urbana University women's golf team finished in third place in a field of 5 NCAA D-II Ohio Independent squads after two days of golf at Ursuline College's Apple Valley Golf Course. The Blue Knights dropped a spot from the Fall Preview Tournament featuring the same 5 teams. Malone University leapfrogged the Blue Knights with team scores of 365 and 367. Urbana carded scores of 389 and 388. Walsh University won the Ohio Independent Championship with rounds of 345 and 335. Urbana's Amanda Rockhold showed the most improvement on Day 2 for the Blue Knights. Rockhold's Tuesday round of 95 tied the team-best, and it was 6 strokes better than her Monday 101. Read More
Caudill Helps UU Edge Ursuline
Apr. 10th, 2012The Urbana University women's golf team took their first home match in over a year on Monday afternoon at the Urbana Country Club. The Blue Knights defeated the visiting Arrows from Ursuline College 395-429. The University of Northwestern Ohio also competed in the tri-match, but the Racers' three golfers were not enough to field a team score. Mar. 6th, 2012The 10th ranked UNC Pembroke women's golf team completed a wire-to-wire victory in capturing the 2012 Armstrong Pirate Women's Golf Invitational, winning by 10 strokes over No. 21 Central Oklahoma.
