9 Blue Knights Earn Preseason All-Ohio Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio (August 17, 2012) - Nine Urbana University football players have been named to OhioCollegeFootball.com's Preseason All-Ohio FCS/D-II Teams.  The Blue Knights landed more players on the First and Second Teams than any other FCS or D-II institution in the state.  Only Findlay and Ashland matched Urbana's 9 mentions.  

Leading the way for the Blue Knights were 5 First Team honorees, including junior WR Joe Webb (Mechanicsburg, OH), senior tackle Ethan Oakley (West Liberty, OH), senior guard Andrew Minda (Dublin, OH), senior DE Perry Jenkins (Columbus, OH), and senior punter Clay Lust (Prospect, OH).  Earlier this week, Jenkins was named to USA College Football's D-II Preseason All-American Second Team.  He joins junior QB D.J. Mendenhall (West Jefferson, OH) and former FS Juan McKeever on a short list of Preseason All-Americans at Urbana during the D-II era.

Speaking of Mendenhall, the third year starter headlined the All-Ohio Preseason Second Team.  Joining Mendenhall on the Second Team were senior tackle Alex Maxson (Delaware, OH), sophomore kicker Marshall Newsome (Huber Heights, OH), and senior linebacker Drew Underwood (West Jefferson, OH).  Visit OhioCollegeFootball.com to view the entire preseason All-Ohio squads.

The Blue Knights are currently wrapping up the first week of preseason camp.  They kickoff the 2012 season at home on Saturday, September 1st at noon against Tusculum College.
