Urbana Announces 2012 Recruiting Class

URBANA, Ohio (February 1, 2012) – Coming off the best season in school history, the Urbana University football team took another step towards the program’s first playoff berth on Wednesday’s National Signing Day. Head Coach Dave Taynor’s staff is preparing for their fifth season together at Urbana, and this off-season, they put together one of their strongest recruiting classes.

The Blue Knight Football Staff would like to thank everyone who made the 2012 signing day a success.  Without the help of President Dr. Stephen Jones, Athletic Director Doug Young, Mary Anne Barr and her entire admissions staff, Robin Makarius and the entire Financial Aid Staff, this day would not be possible.  The hard work of everyone on campus who assisted us with this recruiting class is deeply appreciated.  The entire coaching staff, each current and future student-athlete, and their families are extremely grateful.

The Blue Knights finished 8-3 last season, setting school records for wins, total yards, points per game and points allowed per game. Urbana captured its second straight conference crown in the 4-team GLFC, but in 2012, the Blue Knights join the 9-team Great Lakes Valley Conference. The new football conference boasts better competition and a bid into the NCAA D-II playoffs for its champion.
