Brown Proves He's the Man at Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (September 15, 2012) - Second-year runner Josh Brown came out of nowhere to lead the Blue Knight men's cross country team on Saturday morning at the Cedarville University Friendship Invitational. Brown cut more than 3 minutes off his personal best in the men's 8K, which is equivalent to about 5 miles. Brown, who also plays guard for the Blue Knight men's basketball team, led the Blue Knight pack for the first time in his cross country career, crossing the finish line in 31:25.52, averaging about 6:19 per mile.
With just 4 runners competing, UU fell 1 runner shy of logging a team result in the field of 132 collegiate runners. Junior transfer Dylan McCubbin, who led UU in each of their first two races this fall, finished 1 place and 11 seconds behind Brown in a time of 31:36.28. Team captain Patrick Malloy was third in a time of 32:15.19, and junior Ryan Castle rounded out Urbana's times with a 34:10.29 in the 8K. Brown, McCubbin and Malloy all set personal records in the race.
Next, Urbana competes once again at Cedarville University in 2 weeks. The Yellow Jackets host the All-Ohio Championships at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th. [Friendship Invite Results]
