Men's Basketball Releases 2012-13 Schedule

URBANA, Ohio (September 13, 2012) - Urbana University Head Men's Basketball Coach Jeff Porter released the Blue Knights' 2012-13 schedule this week.  Competing in a conference for the first time since making the move to NCAA Division II, the schedule features 7 games against Great Midwest Athletic Conference foes.  Also, following the conclusion of the regular season, Urbana will compete in the G-MAC post-season tournament, hosted by the #1 seed the weekend of March 8-9.

Urbana opens the year at Cedarville University's Don Callan Classic.  The Blue Knights will play D-II powerhouse West Liberty University in the opener on Friday, November 9th.  The game will be a preview of 2013-14 conference foes as both squads transition into the new Mountain East Conference.  The following day, the Blue Knights meet Holy Family University in Cedarville's Callan Athletic Center.

Urbana's home opener is set for Tuesday, November 20th against regional rival Ashland University.  The schedule features 11 home games in all.

Perhaps the most exciting road trip of the season occurs in mid-December.  Porter's Blue Knights will hop on a plane to the middle of the Pacific Ocean to battle 3 Division II teams from the Aloha State.  During Urbana's week-long stay in Hawaii, the Blue Knights will play at BYU-Hawaii, Hawaii Pacific University and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

For the third straight season, Urbana will jump a level and take on a Division I opponent.  Last season, the Blue Knights knocked of D-I Chicago State on their home floor by a score of 59-55.  This year's squad gets another crack at the Cougars on Saturday, February 16th in Chicago.
