Dr. Eric Fester Named UU Team Physician, Medical Director
Urbana, Ohio (August 27, 2013)—Dr. Eric Fester, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Springfield Regional Medical Group and medical director for Excel Sports Medicine, (http://www.community-mercy.org/excel_main.asp) has been named team physician and medical director of Urbana University’s athletic teams. In this position, Fester will be responsible for leading and coordinating the medical staff and medical services for all of the school's sports teams and student-athletes.
Founded in 1850, Urbana University offers a liberal arts education in a small college environment emphasizing student learning through individual attention, excellence in instruction, career-oriented programs, and critical reflection on moral and ethical values.
Urbana University sponsors 15 intercollegiate teams and is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. Urbana recently joined the newly formed Mountain East Conference (MEC).
Since joining Springfield Regional Medical Group, Fester has continued his commitment and dedication to the treatment of injured athletes. He also serves as team physician and orthopaedic consultant to Springfield High School and holds weekly walk-in clinics for injured athletes.

ABOUT DR. ERIC FESTER
Dr. Fester graduated with distinction from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado and received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Fester received his fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopy at Cincinnati Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center under the guidance of Frank Noyes, MD.
He joins the Springfield Regional Medical Group from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he served as chief of surgical administrative services, orthopedic surgeon and clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Fester is a Member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is associated with Mercy Memorial Hospital and Springfield Regional Medical Center and sees patients out of his Springfield offices.
