UU Women Post 2nd Straight Top 10 Finish in D2

ESSEX FELLS, New Jersey (July 10, 2014) - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is proud to announce the 2014 Spring CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams. The CSCAA Scholar All-America program is supported by Nike.

The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester/term and in the semester/term of the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).

For the second consecutive semester, the Urbana University men's swim team posted the highest team GPA in NCAA Division II.  The Blue Knights led the way with a 3.76.  In the fall, the Urbana men led the entire country, male or female in all divisions, with a 3.82 team GPA.  Last spring, Urbana's men finished 3rd in D2 with a cumulative 3.42 GPA.  The Blue Knights just narrowly missed out on back-to-back top GPA's in the country.  The University of Minnesota's women edged Urbana's men with an overall top team GPA of 3.86.  Urbana's men were second.  Only one other men's program in the country posted a GPA over 3.5.

Urbana's women remained in the top 10 of D2's national rankings. A year ago, the Blue Knights finished a respectable 51st in D-II with a 3.08 G.P.A.  In the fall of 2013, the team climbed all the way to 6th in the country with a team G.P.A. of 3.53, and this spring, Urbana's women repeated their 3.53 GPA, but slipped three spots to 9th in their division.
