Blue Knight Men's Soccer
Welcome to the Urbana University Men's Soccer Webpage,
The Urbana University men’s soccer team finished 2013 with an overall record of 7-7-4, including a conference mark of 6-3-3 (MEC). On the back of our 2012 G-MAC Conference Championship, the team finished a credible 3rd in the new and challenging Mountain East Conference. Despite fielding a young team in 2013, our players showed great promise for the future, as we landed 4 players on the NSCAA All-Region team and a number of MEC Conference awards including Goalkeeper of the Year (freshman) Nathan Jones, and freshman of the year, Ben Fitzpatrick. Back in 2012, we finished with a 10-7-1 record and captured the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship, the first conference title in school history.
We have a beautiful school with a wide array of academic programs. Urbana University is nestled in the Ohio countryside, but it is within a 45-minute drive of Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. We have a small school environment with an average teaching ratio of 16 students to 1 professor. Our facilities are excellent with an all-weather stadium and grass practice fields. We have locker rooms, a swimming pool and a gymnasium on campus, all within walking distance of all our residence halls.
We seek players who are serious about playing and competing at this level. The same applies to our diligence in the classroom. We seek diligent student-athletes who are committed to helping us maintain our high level of success in the classroom.

Men's Soccer Routs Rams 4-1
The Urbana University men’s soccer team raced out to a 4-0 lead on the road at Shepherd University on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Knights held on for a decisive 4-1 win to improve to 5-10 on the season.
Lewis Dunne got the scoring started in the 32nd minute. The Blue Knights tacked on two more before the first half horn sounded. Alpha Barry got an assist from Joe Carter in the 44th minute, and a minute later, Callum Kerswell-Reid took a Raymond Roberts’ pass and deposited it in the back of Shepherd’s net to give the Blue Knights a 3-0 advantage at the break. Kerswell-Reid’s goal came with just 10 seconds left on the first half clock, and he wasn’t done there. In the 72nd minute, Barry found Kerswell-Reid in front of the Ram keeper. Kerswell-Reid notched his first two-goal game as a Blue Knight, and the rout was on. Read More
Concord Completes Season Sweep with OT GoalOct. 21st, 2014
The Urbana University men’s soccer team dropped out of contention for the fourth spot in the Mountain East Conference post-season tournament with a 2-1 overtime loss against visiting Concord University on Tuesday night. The loss leaves Urbana’s MEC record at 3-7. A win or two ties in the final three games by nationally ranked West Virginia Wesleyan eliminates Urbana from the four-team MEC tournament.
Concord’s win is just their second of the season. Both have come at the expense of Urbana. The visitors grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a 35-yard free kick off an Urbana foul in the 18th minute. The ball careened into the goal off the inside of the left post. That shot on goal was Concord’s only shot on goal in regulation. Read More
Homecoming King Nets Game-WinnerOct. 18th, 2014
Newly appointed Urbana University Homecoming King Mike Bamber (pictured) may have missed his crowning this afternoon at the Homecoming Football game, but it was for a good reason. Bamber was busy in Buckhannon, West Virginia winning a soccer game and keeping the Blue Knights’ hopes alive in the race to earn a bid in the Mountain East Conference post-season tournament.
The Homecoming King’s goals in the 54th and 89th minutes were the only goals of the night in Urbana’s important 2-0 victory over nationally ranked West Virginia Wesleyan College. The Saturday night game was part of the Bobcats’ Homecoming weekend festivities, but it was a Blue Knight royal who ruined their celebration. The goals were Bamber’s team-leading 4th and 5th of the season. Read More
UU Undone in Rain by #3 UCOct. 14th, 2014
The Urbana University men’s soccer team fell to 0-5 against nationally ranked opponents this season with a 7-1 home loss to the third ranked Golden Eagles from the University of Charleston. The Blue Knights have now dropped 6 of 7 contests, beginning with a 2-1 loss to the same Golden Eagles back on September 20th.
Charleston opened Tuesday’s scoring with a pair of goals in the first 24 minutes. Felipe Antonio’s 14th minute blast was initially stopped by UU keeper Nathan Jones, but the rebound landed back at the feet of Antonio who forced his second attempt through a few Blue Knight defenders.
The visitors pushed their lead to insurmountable levels with third and fourth goals in the 51st and 58th minutes. Trailing 4-0, Urbana finally got on the board a minute later on a 35-yard blast from Aaron Burt. The defender was assisted by his fellow defender, Matthew Stephens, on the play. Read More
Cards Clip Blue Knights 1-0Oct. 8th, 2014
The visiting Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit University only needed two shots on goal to capitalize and upend Urbana University 1-0 on Wednesday evening. Aitor Iniguez De Heredia’s nifty scissor kick goal in the 29th minute was enough to overcome an Urbana squad that fired 18 shots and controlled the ball on their home field for most of the game.
The loss is Urbana’s fourth in five contests, dating back to September 20th. The Blue Knights last win before the recent skid was a 1-0 decision at Wheeling Jesuit University on September 17th. Read More
