#UUMCC Takes 8th at MEC Championships
On a crisp autumn morning at Pipestem State Park in West Virginia, the Urbana University men’s and women’s cross country teams put the finishing touches on the most successful seasons in program history. Competing in the first-ever Mountain East Conference Championships, the Blue Knight men placed 8th out of 9 squads. As they have been all fall, the Blue Knight men were paced by freshman Mason Dail. Dail cracked the 30-minute barrier in the 8K for the fourth time this season, posting a time of 29:59.03. Dail placed 35th in the field of 71, missing out on all-conference honors by about 90 seconds. He averaged 6:01 per mile over the near-5 mile course. Read More
4 Runners Turn in Personal Bests at WilmingtonOct. 21st, 2013
The Urbana University cross country teams turned in one of their most impressive weeks of the season over the weekend at the Wilmington College #JennaStrong Classic. The men picked up 4 wins, finishing 32nd in a talented field of 36 teams from across the region. Three Blue Knights ran personal bests in the Friday night race. On the women's side, Urbana's 4 runners each ran 5K's that landed them in the Top 10 all-time at Urbana.
Senior Ryan Castle enjoyed the best race of his career. The veteran from Urbana, Ohio trimmed over a minute off his career low, finishing 3rd on the squad with a 32:01 in the 8K. In Urbana's previous 4 races this fall, Castle finished 6th for the Blue Knights. Read More
Dail Leads #UUMCC at All-Ohio RaceOct. 4th, 2013
For the second straight race, the Urbana University cross country teams ran the Elvin King course at nationally ranked Cedarville University. On a hot and muggy Friday afternoon, the Blue Knights competed in the All-Ohio Championships hosted by the Yellow Jackets. The Blue Knight men finished 12th in the NCAA Division II/NAIA race and 39th overall in a field that included 41 programs from across the state in NCAA Divisions I, II, III, as well as NAIA. Freshman Mason Dail continued to lead the Blue Knight pack. Dail was the 75th D2 runner to cross the 8K finish line in a time of 29:53.03, almost 7 seconds faster than his last race at Cedarville. Cross Country Competes at Nationally Ranked CedarvilleSep. 21st, 2013
The Urbana University cross country teams returned to a familiar course on Saturday to compete in the 23rd Annual Friendship Invitational hosted by former conference foe Cedarville University. The Blue Knight men finished behind Kentucky State University in points, despite turning in a better average team time, and had to settle for 11th place. Urbana's women did not register a team score with just four runners competing in their first 6K of the season.
Brady Newcomer, Zach Johnson and Matt Wilt each ran personal bests for the men's team. Newcomer (pictured) trimmed the most time off his previous low amongst the three freshman. He nearly took a full two minutes off his 8K time from two weeks prior. Read More
Men's Cross Country Earns 1st Win of 2013Sep. 14th, 2013
The Urbana University men's and women's cross country teams contined their assault on the record books in their second race of the fall season. Running at NCAA Division I Ohio University, a total of 6 Blue Knights jumped into the all-time top-10 with their performances on Saturday. The men's team also earned their first win of the season, finishing 4th in the field of 5 teams. The Blue Knights beat Capital University by 39 points.
The Blue Knight men were once again led by freshman Mason Dail. Dail took 20th place in the 5K, setting a new UU school record with a time of 17:02.90. Read More
