Liz Maute

Prep Notes: Liz is an outside hitter/defensive specialist from Shawnee High School in Springfield, where she earned 3 varsity letters in volleyball, 3 in track and 1 in cheerleading.  She was named Co-Captain of the volleyball team, where she led her team in kills and digs as an outside hitter and defensive specialist.  Liz was named to the All-Conference and All-District Teams. She has also played Junior Olympic Volleyball for the past 6 years with Dayton Juniors and Matchpoint MEVC.  Liz has received awards for her writing ability as well as the Archie Griffin Award for good sportsmanship on and off the court.  Her peers voted her "Best Sense of Humor", as well as the courts for Homecoming, Winter Formal and Prom. She also gained spots on the Principal's list and was part of multiple school clubs.

Personal:  Liz is majoring in Psychology at Urbana University.  She plans to obtain her Masters in Christian Counseling. She is the daughter of Lori and Kevin Maute.

Why did Liz choose Urbana University?  "I chose to attend Urbana University due to atmosphere of the campus among other important factors. I felt as if I fit in with the rest of the student body every time I was on campus and the other girls on the team were very welcoming."

Her thoughts looking toward her first collegiate season:  "I look forward to this coming fall season and the school year in general. It also doesn't hurt that Urbana is pretty close to my home town."

Coach Cromer on Liz:  "Liz is a talented volleyball player. She will be able to play many positions such as outside hitter, opposite, and defense. We are excited to have Liz in the program because she is very coachable and she's a smart player. Her vocal skills are strong too, which is important in our system."
