Jessica Saffold

College Notes: Jessica averaged 16.9 points and 9 rebounds per game as a freshman at Cuyahoga Community College.  She was named All-OCCAC in 2008-09, and she entered the 2009-10 season as a NJCAA preseason All-American...She scored 38 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in her final game at CCC.

Prep Notes: Jessica is a 5'9" Guard from Bedford High School.

Personal: Jessica's parents are Rodger Saffold and Angela Coopridge.  She will major in Exercise Science at Urbana University.

Coach Phillips on Jessica Saffold:  "I watched Jessica play in 2009 and was blown away by all the things she could do on a basketball court.  She scored 26 pts, had 10+ rebounds, played point guard on offense and defended the post on defense.  I spoke to Coach Williams after the game and began a dialogue that I hoped would give us an opportunity with Jessica this recruiting season.  Her knee injury this winter may have kept some of the big schools away, but I knew after talking to her that she would bounce back stronger than ever.  I can't wait to get the opportunity to work with her.  She can be as good as anyone we've ever had here.  She is also an outstanding young woman who bonded immediately with our upperclassmen.  She has faced some obstacles in her career so far, but I'm confident that she will excel in the classroom and on the court here at Urbana.  She is focused on what she wants to accomplish as a student-athlete and as a member of the Blue Knight Basketball Program.  Welcome, Jessica!"
