The Blue Knight Cheerleading program is under the supervision of Head Coach Melissa Closser.  She is certified in cheerleading safety through the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) and certified in stunting/tumbling through the National Council of Spirit Safety & Education (NCSSE).  Prior to coaching at Urbana University, Closser was the Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Graham High School in St. Paris, Ohio.

While cheering at West Holmes High School, she was picked as an All-Star cheerleader for two consecutive years and performed in the Half-Time Show at the Florida Citrus Bowl (now known as the CapitalOne Bowl).  She was captain of Urbana University's Cheerleading squad during the 1999 - 2000 season, and she was a member and captain of Tiffin University's Cheerleading squad during the 2000 - 2003 seasons. 

Closser earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Tiffin University and a Master of Science in Marketing and Communications from Franklin University.  She has been the Marketing Coordinator at Hull & Associates, Inc. for over four years.  A native of Millersburg, Ohio, Melissa and her husband, Patrick, reside in London.

Steffie Lybeck

Steffie Lybeck joins the Blue Knight Cheerleading coaching staff as a graduate assistant one season after finishing her four-year cheering career at Urbana University.  She is a member of the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) and is certified in cheerleading safety. She also serves as the advisor for the UU Spirit Club and contact for the UU Cheerleading Alumni Association.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Lybeck has coached competitive cheerleading for the past eight years, as well as coaching tumbling for nine years.   She was a member of Jonathan Alder High School's 2006 State Championship Cheerleading Squad, Division III Non-Mount. She was also captain of the Urbana University cheerleading squad for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons.

Lybeck recently graduated from Urbana University with a Bachelor's of Business Management with a minor in Marketing. She is currently working on completing her master's degree in Business Administration at Urbana University. She works for her parent's company and plans to work for a major business located somewhere close to her hometown of Plain City, Ohio.
