Three Bowlers Named Academic All-Americans

URBANA, Ohio (April 5, 2010) - Three Urbana University bowlers have been named to the Academic All-American Team by the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association.  John Appelgate, Paige Albright and Mercedes Sells each maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 to be named to the Academic All-American Team. 

Appelgate is a sophomore from Urbana, Ohio.  Albright is a senior from Genoa, Ohio, and Sells is a freshman from Urbana, Ohio. 

The Blue Knight bowling team wrapped up their 2009-10 season with a strong showing at the USBC Sectional Qualifying Tournament.  Both the men's and the women's teams earned top 50 rankings that helped them make the 64-team field.  The men's team placed 8th of the 16 teams at the Chattanooga, Tennessee qualifier and the women's team placed 6th of 16 teams.  The top 4 teams advanced to the Team Championships in El Paso, Texas.
