URBANA, Ohio (March 12, 2010) - Urbana University pitcher Tami Lasley (Union, Ohio/Northmont HS) led the Blue Knights in wins on the mound last season, posting a team-high 9 as a sophomore. After a phenomenal week at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida, Lasley is well on her way past that number in 2010. The junior picked up 3 of the Blue Knights' first 5 wins on Spring Break, and her bat was equally impressive. Today, she was named the Family Dentistry Student-Athlete of the Week.
Lasley's week started with a complete game 8-3 win over Wilmington (Del.) on Sunday morning. She battled back from a 2-run deficit to earn her first victory of the season. At the plate, Lasley helped her cause, going 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI. Lasley's 2nd win of the week was an impressive complete game 4-hitter in a 7-1 win over Wheeling Jesuit University. Again, Lasley helped her cause with a big day at the plate. She finished 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Win #3 came against the University of Southern Indiana on Tuesday. Lasley went the distance in a tight 4-3 Urbana win. She scattered 8 hits and struck out a career-high 7 Screaming Eagles. She also had another strong showing at the plate, posting another 2-hit performance.
