TIFFIN, Ohio (April 20, 2010) - Playing 4 competitive rounds in 4 days, the Urbana University men's golf team finished its busy weekend with a second consecutive 12th place finish at the 2010 Kyle Ryman Memorial Tournament hosted by Tiffin University. Facing much better weather conditions at Tiffin, Urbana was able to trim quite a few strokes off their scores from Findlay on Friday and Saturday. The Blue Knights shot a cumulative team score of 351 on Day 1 at Tiffin, an improvement of 24 strokes from their Day 1 score at Findlay. On holes 54-72, Urbana fired a 368, shaving 19 strokes from their Day 2 total at Findlay. The host Dragons won their home tournament with back-to-back 298's.
Leading the Blue Knights was freshman Adam Mitchley (Grove City, OH/Grove City HS). On Day 1, Mitchley (pictured) tied his collegiate career best with an 81 at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club. It is the second time he's shot that score, tying the team low this spring. Mitchley wrapped up his tournament with a Day 2 score of 86, giving him a cumulative score of 167, a new low in a 36-hole tournament for Mitchley.
Freshman Nick Coleman continued is strong play with rounds of 96 and 90 at Tiffin to finish 2nd amongst his teammates. Coleman was the only Blue Knight to improve his score from Day 1 to Day 2. Senior Dave Devor and freshman Josh Diemer rounded out the Blue Knights' scoring with identical 189's. Both golfers carded a score of 93 on Day 1, followed by 96's on Day 2.

URBANA, Ohio (October 22, 2009) - Urbana University Athletic Director Doug Young appointed Jerome Armstrong as the newest head coach of the men's golf program today. An Urbana native, Armstrong is a 1992 graduate of Urbana High School. Armstrong golfed for the Blue Knights during the 1993-94 season for Head Coach Bill Blazer. He graduated with a degree in business from Miami University in 1996, and he spent 2 years as an assistant golf professional at the Little Turtle Country Club in Westerville, Ohio.
