Be a Blue Knight
Life as a Blue Knight
by Douglas P. Young, M.S.
On behalf of the entire Urbana University family, I would like to welcome you to our website and the home of Blue Knight athletics. Urbana University is proud to sponsor 15 athletic programs in one of the most beautiful geographic locations in the nation.
Although athletics is an integral part of our campus environment, it is the pride that we take in the development of the total person that we find most rewarding.
With so many college choices available to students today, I am often asked, "Why is Urbana University the right place for me?" Most often, my answer is that the core attribute of NCAA Division II athletics, known as "Life in Balance", is carried out and practiced in all that we do.
At Urbana University it is universally accepted that all students and employees are equipped with a unique skill set of strengths and weaknesses. We constantly seek to accentuate those strengths and nurture those weaknesses in an effort to form a collective unified body of positive results. Our campus-wide slogan of "One Student at a Time" confirms our commitment to knowing each individual on a personal basis. It's what makes success a reality and not merely just a dream at Urbana University.
Johnson Scores 1,000th Career Point in Win at AikenDec. 20th, 2013
A thirteen day lay-off couldn’t slow down the streaking Urbana University women’s basketball team and senior point guard DeVonyea Johnson. On Friday afternoon at the University of South Carolina-Aiken, the Blue Knights ran their winning streak to six games in a 66-54 road win over the Pacers. Johnson scored a third of Urbana’s points, including her 1,000th career point late in the second half.
With the win, Urbana improves to 7-1 on the season. It’s the fastest start in program history. Urbana’s lone loss came on the road at Edinboro University in the season’s second game. Edinboro was the 32nd ranked team in the country at the time. Aiken was the 20th ranked team in that same poll, but the Pacers have fallen on hard times lately. Friday’s loss was their fifth straight. Aiken slips to 2-9 on the year. All nine losses are by twelve or less points. Read More
